The IP Search Database is backed by Atelier Web's gigantic IP database, currently with over 5 million IP ranges. This is the largest and most reliable IP database in the World.

The Email Validator verifies if a given email address is legitimate without actually sending any email. Note that desktop software utilities can not reliably check the legitimacy of an email addresses because many email servers perform a reverse DNS lookup of the IP address of the desktop client and reject further enquiries when a few conditions are not met (for example absence of PTR, A or MX records for that IP address). This does not happen with Email Validator because it is lodged on a dedicated Web server with an email server.
